It is with great pleasure that I welcome the establishment and development of the Ghana Institute of Advanced Legal Studies with a firm belief in the future role of the Institute in contributing to the well-being of the nation.
Experience has shown that an independent research institution and centre of excellence can make extensive contributions to legal education and to the legal system itself. It can be a focus for modernisation and adaptation of the legal system to the global economic and social order which is vital to the country’s interests. It can also raise awareness more generally about the value of the legal system. I applaud the committed and enterprising pioneers who have formed the Institute and given it such essential support. I look forward to meeting them again and I assure them of the support of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London in their vision.
