Stephen Offei is currently the Dean of Law in the Faculty of Law at KNUST. He occupied a number of Public Service positions as Legal Adviser and Practitioner preceding an academic career which has spanned over 36 years. He has taught at universities in the United Kingdom, Ghana, Nigeria, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Cyprus, and the South Pacific (USP).

In four of these Universities he was instrumental in founding the law faculties under the auspices of the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation. In addition to teaching, to which he is avidly dedicated, he has devoted his wide experience to academic and business administration and management and recently was the Director-General of the Commonwealth Faculty of Research and Advanced Legal Studies, United Kingdom. Stephen has wide research interests.

He has co-ordinated projects for the UN and a variety of Governments throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean and the South Pacific. He has published books and journal articles on wide fields of law and moral philosophy. He is a member of the General Council of the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and Senior Associate Research Fellow, Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS), School of Advanced Study, University of London.

Nana Susubribi Krobea Asante, Paramount Chief of Asante Asokore (known in private life as Dr S.K.B. Asante) is a legal practitioner and an international legal consultant, specialising in investment law, corporation law and transfer of technology, law of arbitration and governance.

He was formerly an Attorney with World Bank, Washington DC, Solicitor-General and Deputy Attorney General of Ghana and Director of the UN Centre on Transnational Corporations, New York. He has been a legal consultant to numerous governments in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and also several international institutions. He has lectured and published widely in many areas of international and domestic law; one time President of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, Fellow of the World Academy of Arts and Sciences, Honorary Fellow of the Society for Advanced Legal Studies in the UK.

He is an active international arbitrator, was Member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris from 1999-2012, a panellist of several other international arbitration institutions and Chairman of the Ghana Arbitration Centre. He was Chairman of the Committee of Experts that formulated proposals for the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. He was installed Paramount Chief of Asante Asokore in August 1995. He is a member of the Ashanti Region House of Chiefs, the National House of Chiefs, the Judicial Council of Ghana, and the National Peace Council of Ghana.

Associate Professor Jules Winterton, Adviser on Strategic Development of the Institute. Jules Winterton is Director and Librarian of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS), University of London, England, and until recently, President of the International Association of Law Librarians. He is a Director of the British and Irish Legal Information Institute, Convenor of the Libraries Committee of the Society of Legal Scholars, committee member of the China – America Forum on Legal Information and Law Libraries, and a member of the American Association of Law Libraries. He was formerly a President of the British and Irish Association of Law Librarians and a member of the Board of Directors of LLMC Digital. He has been a consultant on legal information and law libraries in the UK and other countries.

Richard Nzerem, LLB (London), LLM, AKC, Barrister, Lincolns Inn, Advocate of the Supreme Court of Zambia, formerly, Director of the Legal & Constitutional Affairs Division, Commonwealth Secretariat, London. Richard heads the Legislative Drafting Unit in GIALS.

Emeritus Professor Nan J.C. Van den Bergh, BA, B.Juris, LLB (UNISA), LLD (UOFS), Dip.Theol (Heidelberg) Advocate of South Africa. He is an expert in Legal linguistics, Legal Hermeneutics, Legal Semiotics, Legal & Legislative Drafting and Constitutional Law. Nan is GIALS’ Legislative Drafting Consultant.

Dr Elizabeth A. Archampong, LLB (UG), LLM, PhD (Osgoode Hall), taught at KNUST Law Faculty for a brief period from 2007 until 2010. She is now an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School. Dr Archampong serves on GIALS’ Council. She is also GIALS’ Overseas Representative.

Professor Francis Nii Nuertey Botchway, LLB (UG), LLM (BC) LLM (Dalhousie), PhD (Manchester). Francis is an Associate Professor of Law at the School of Law, Qatar. He is a member of GIALS’ Council and serves as Liaison Officer on International Affairs.
